I recently rented a 2022 version of the 2021 RAM 1500 I drive, the rental surprised me with Uconnect 5 and wireless CarPlay. Over the 8 days I came to love that feature of not having to fumble for my phone each time I got in/out of the truck, but wasn’t worth trading in my 1yo truck. I had tried wireless “dongles” for CarPlay in the past but the functionality was lacking. So I took a chance on this one since it specified the RAM 2021 … works exactly the same as the Mopar OEM in my rental … exactly same! Yes, it takes a brief moment to ‘hand shake’ with the phone and get connected, yes there are times the audio doesn’t switch back correctly (my 2021 wired also does this! so did my rental!), yes it can have a little lag with ‘Hey Siri’ (so did my rental wired & wireless! that’s the newer iOS! And I’ve been using this MMB device for a solid 150 hours of driving now, no reboots or software glitches in that time. In short, my reasonably direct comparison to a car manufacturer’s wireless CarPlay is that they’re the SAME, so don’t blame this device for the minor shortcomings of CarPlay, I’m loving mine ?I wasn’t super excited for this cuz I’ve tried other kind of solutions before for video playing in cars screens and they don’t work too well. So it wasn’t a surprise this one was a tiny laggy and if you do a bunch of quick operations over the UI it would crash easily. I like that over Car play it gives me wireless capabilities but I don’t think that Inwould use it that much since my car has already wired car play, very efficient it charges my phone at the same time. The only reason I won’t return it is just because it let me play video in my screen using AirPlay so I don’t bore myself to death while I wait for my wife in Target.i had high hopes for this but came away disappointed. It is slow to boot up and rarely connects automatically to my phone. It changes the aspect ratio of my car display. I cannot find anything to recommend this. Please avoid.I have to return mine, the interface and connections work great but in my 2019 Mercedes C300, when Waze gives an instruction to turn, it takes over the USB port audio as "Apple car play" but after the instruction to turn, it never goes back to my XM i was listening to. Instead of dipping the XM audio and talking over it, it switches to AUX audio and never switches backThe wireless mirror link is slow and can’t really use to stream video (YouTube). It’s basically useless. The initial boot up and connection took about a minute too. It will be better off just to use the cable so less thing to mess with.Don’t waste your money. You need to have your phone set up as a WiFi hotspot to connect with this device which uses a lot more data than just plugging phone in to use CarPlay. If you bought to play videos on your car screen, like I did, don’t bother. It takes 10 minutes to watch a 2 minute long YouTube video due to how long it needs to buffer while playing. Big waste of money
