I am someone who cannot stand iphone cases and have purposefully avoided them for years. The iphone was designed thin to be enjoyable while holding and fit comfortably in your pocket, and the vast majority of cases simply ruin that experience. However, as is often the case, that experience comes with a cost, painfully realized the first time that shiny new $1,000 phone demonstrates a heart-wrenching display of Newtonian physics on the concrete sidewalk.I had read about this case on a tech review site and decided to give it a try. Its thin profile and carbon fiber-like strength seemed like it would be a good compromise. When I received it, I was almost shocked at how thin and light it was. The case is actually thinner than the camera profile, so they added a small ring around that to protect it too.The overall low profile and subtlety makes this case such a pleasure to use...it is almost as if it were painted on. The texture gives a perfect balance of grip and polish, making it less likely you drop your phone but at the same time not gluing itself inside your pocket (like a silicone/rubber case).The case also comes with a glass screen protector (which I didn't even realize when I bought, so an added bonus). Normally I am also not a fan of these, but they make it fairly easy to install to avoid getting any bubbles and dust underneath it, although I do recommend going somewhere with as minimal dust as possible when installing. I also would turn on the screen when mounting to ensure it aligns well with the LCD. My only recommendation for Oribox on this would be to add about a millimeter of height and width to ensure full coverage and no "prism" effect around the edges on angled viewing, especially if you did not align perfectly.As far as durability, I have decided a voluntary field test is not in my best interest, practically or financially, but the case seems sturdy enough to prevent any superficial scratching and dents on minor drops, which is mostly what I need it for. I would hope it would prevent the glass from breaking when dropped as well, but that is always dependent on conditions of said drop (carpet vs. concrete, hardwood vs. bathroom tile, waist vs. face...you get the idea).I do not have AppleCare, which costs $199 for the plan and $29 for a cracked screen repair (total of $228 vs. a flat fee of $279 with no plan). "Other" damage is $99 with the plan ($298 total) vs. $549 without, so your biggest fear would be a catastrophic drop with damage beyond a screen crack, i.e. the back glass). So you are hedging your bet with this case in hopes it will prevent anything beyond a screen crack.I am fairly cautious with my phone (have only cracked one screen in 6+ years of owning iphones (5, 6, and now the X), so I really don't feel like I need something bulky to prevent all possible damage scenarios (like an Otterbox, which basically turns your phone into Gordon Gecko's cell phone in Wall Street).All in all, I highly recommend this case for anyone looking for a reasonable amount of protection while maintaining the sleek minimalist design and usage of the iphone 8 plus.***UPDATE 3/6/18Had my first major drop last night from face height onto kitchen tile floor, screen down. While the screen protector was basically shatteblack (photo attached), the phone itself was unscathed, which was a HUGE relief after seeing that drop and thinking the worse with glass on tile. Definitely recommend after that!!!!I like that it's clear and VERY slim. I'm not sure how protective it is and I do not plan to test it's integrity as throwing my phone at a wall or dropping it screen down seems unwise.But I can see the color of the phone through the clear case, so it's a win.This case fit my Iphone 11, but does not have very good shock absorption. I hate dropping my phone, but on occasion it happens. I dropped it and even with another case over the top of this one, my glass cover broke in many parts.The case matches/mates with my iPhone 8 Plus perfectly. The design of the overall case is super nice for such an inexpensive price I purchased it for. I can’t comment on longevity because I’ve only been using it for two weeks. One caveat I’ll mention is that the case is not as grippy as my past cases. Other than that I like it and would recommended it.Better than expected! It even includes holes to add charms! I use it for a phone strap and I can hold the phone by the strap and the case does not bend from the weight. Also comes in a 100% biodegrade package!!! Pop socket sticks great to it. Will buy again as soon as this one inevitably yellows over time.I’ve had this for about a month and it works great. Easy to clean too because it splits into two pieces. Also I really like the texture of the case and the look. It’s IPX7 so that helps a lotReally liked how it looked and how sturdy the case was but about a week after I got the case, I dropped my phone on a table and it shatter the back of the phone which was disappointing.I have a graveyard of cases for a variety of phones over the years. This is my 2nd Oribox case (new phone) so I’ve used for almost 2 years. Not that you know me from Adam, but if are reading this, just pull the trigger. You are looking for the best slim case, no external branding, built in metal for mag mount and still wireless charging? Worried about cost or quality? Don’t be. Get it!
