Original SIB Laptop AC Adapter Charger for Dell Inspiron 1521 1525 - Replacement Power Supply Cord with Fast Charging - Perfect for Home, Office & Travel Use

So far so good. Original charger, that came new with the laptop,lasted only a few years. Replaced with a major electronics chain's only available universal charger (about $70)and that charger lasted about 10 months. Swore that I'd throw the laptop out into the yard before I'd pay DELL what they wanted for a replacement part. This one's cord is long enough for me to drape over a couch back or stretch across a table at a coffee shop. Mine gets a little warm (as all electric devices that have resistance do) but doesn't get HOT as I've read some replacement chargers do. For this price I've already gotten my money's worth. I would have bought and additional one had I known this one was decent. Would have given a 5-star rating but I've only owned it a few months.My original cord broke sometime in traveling when on vacation and left me in a bind. This is a very inexpensive alternative to the original dell charger replacement and works just fine. The cord is a little shorter then the original but only by a couple inches and it is 3 prog which is no problem for me. I bought this over 6 months ago and it is still working well without getting too hot.My laptop battery just recently stopped holding a charge and am not sure if it is due to the charger, it is most likely due to old age (my computer is almost 4 years old). Overall it works great and does just as its indented to do.------EDIT-------I've had this product for about a year and a half and I recently noticed its been making a humming noise. Taking note of that I decided it would be a good idea to keep a close eye on it. Today, I had my laptop plugged in next to me for about a half hour and started to smell a burning/melting smell. When I reached over and touch the square part of the charger it was so hot I almost burned myself, so I immediately unplugged it. My advice is that if anyone is looking for a cheap buy this is good temporarily because it does do it's job charging it. But if you do buy it do not leave it unattended or plugged in for long periods of time. I believe that if I left it in any longer it could have started a fire.Does the job well, and at a fraction of the price! I have had a few other chargers that did not work well or easily slipped out of the laptop plug, but this one does neither.2 things to consider, chord is not very long, and now my laptop battery says it has reached the end of its charging life (but will work normally when plugged in). Could be a coincidence, since my laptop is 4 years old, but I guess it is possible that the charger is over-charging the battery. My fiance uses it too (her laptop is only 2 years old), and now she is getting the same battery message.I've had this for 8 months or so, and it has always worked good, but within the last few months, I've noticed that some of the plastic around the plug-in on the box has melted. The actual plug that goes into the box is too large for it and it splits the casing apart slightly about a centimeter.The label on the cord box is actually curled up and browning. If this box LIES ON the TABLE, wood floors, ANYTHING, it will get too hot to touch in less than a half an hour!This is no exaggeration.I keep my laptop by my bed, and I have to wrap the cable around a bar on my bed frame so that the box is suspended in air and won't catch anything to fire!If it hadn't have worked well for me the first few months, I would have given it a one star review.I have a Dell Ispiron 1525, if that helps you.Just spend a little more money and invest in something that will last a little longer and won't burn your house down!Also, the cable isn't very long either, which stinks.I've had this product for a week or so and it's working fine for me. I had read the reviews concerning the unit becoming hot with prolonged use, so I always unplug it before leaving the house or going to bed at night as a precaution. However, I have not noticed it running abnormally hot as of yet. So far, I am satisfied with my purchase.I have had my Dell Inspiron 1521 for about 2 years but the charger died on me recently and I purchased this as a replacement. The charger was much like the original Dell charger and works very well. My only complaint is that the cords were a lot shorter than the original factory chargerPROS:-reliableCONS:-the cord is shorter than the factory Dell chargerI bought this for my husband, whose current charger finally wore out.. It says that this works for the inspiron 1525, and it MAINTAINS the current battery level, but until now today, it has NEVER charged his battery. But now today, it says that its finally charging (mind you, I got this for my husband at Christmas time), and even now it flickers back and forther between charging and maintaining the current battery status. I'm not sure what to think of this charger. Really. But this charger can't be trusted. So please buy this with caution.This product, a replacement charger for a Dell Inspirion Laptop,Is just what i needed. The original one broke, needed one fast and cheap. The quality is about the same as the original(possibly better if the chord doesn't break like the official dell one did after 1 year), it charges at the same rate, fits perfect and was MUCH cheaper than an official dell charger. I highly reccomend it as a replacement for your Dell charger, or as a cheap secondary.
