Living in the apartment is very hard to find the best spot for a solar trickle charger specially in Georgia state. There are many trees in between the buildings and they are pretty tall. So you should consider the place you park before buying solar panels. Also, you should check if your car has UV protection film. You don't want these kinds of films installed if you want to place them inside of your vehicles.In my experience with multiple solar trickle chargers you should expect to work less than half of the specifications most of the time. Sometimes it will be near 1/4. Because it depends on the weather conditions, seasons, locations and the time. For the best result when placing the solar panel on the dashboard, your car should be facing "South".I have a 20W solar panel placed on the dashboard. Direct sunlight 12pm measured amperage 460mA(0.46A) @ voltage was 19.13. My car has a 25mA ~ 29mA parasitic draw with an aftermarket security remote starter. Also, my car's cigarette lighter socket is switched so I won't be able to use the socket to charge. So I installed a fuse tap in the vehicle so I can connect the solar panel without opening the engine hood.To measure the actual output amperage, inline measurement is the best way to know(See picture). Even if the solar is able to output 18V the amperage may not be producing enough amperage to charge the battery(Need good sunlight!!).It's important to know the wattage and voltage but the amperage is even more important than you think. 10W solar charger may not be enough to offset discharges or parasitic draws daily bases. The 10w solar panel is suitable for the tractors or mowers. If you intend to trickle charge your regular car then you should consider buying 20w.
