This is both a peltier cooler and a Qi cooler. How does this work? Peltier is a bilayer metal using the flow of electricity to pull heat from one side to the other.My experience with function is good. This device QUICKLY up-negotiates power in Qi; it also up-recovers. The 3 state switch is not a power button. Power is provided automatically by coil proximity. Charge. Charge & cool. Cool.My experience with light. The light show is both automatic an un-disable-able. But. Once FOB is invoked by sliding off receiver coil there is no auto-resume. It will flash red for FOB or coil alignment fail. One must lift away the charger for a time prior to reapplication. Hmm. There are no lights to indicate Qi begin. One need heed phone notification.My experience with Qi version. For a cutting edge claim I expected the latest version of Qi (20w). I understand Qi watts like wired watts are selected by the phone. An iphone with 7.5w Qi receiver won't charge any faster with a Qi 20w coil. With precise alignment on a test After receiving the item 2 days ago. The fan already smells like it burnt out. Day 3 today. It gave up and the fan stops every 5minutes, but it still charges the phone. but the cooling parts is done.It does wirelessly connect to an iPhone, but it has to be plugged into a a USB to work.Fun little charger has a built in peltier cooler that refrigerates your phone. Actively cooling your phones chip can increase its speed if the chip is thermal throttling. This may make gameplay smoother. Has lights and a fan also, fun.Benks, a newcomer in the competitive industry of phone accessories. I bought their screen protector earlier in the month, and was thoroughly impressed with their cost, value, and especially packaging.This magnetic cooling charger’s packaging is super impressive, really a premium unboxing experience. And the design really makes it look like it means business. Going by its included paperwork and art, they look like they’re going after the enthusiast market. And if they keep making awesome products, I think they’re on the right track.There are three toggles on this: cooling, mixed, and charge only. Cooling is where the fan will go on, but no charging, mixed is both, and charge only is charging without the fan.The great thing about this is that it automatically powers on and off when you attach and detach. When the fan is spinning there is a little whirling sound, not annoying so, but definitely working audibly. There are also built in leds that turn on. I would’ve liked another toggle to turn the leds on or off, but it’s not a huge deal.The charging is fast charging, and through anecdotal experience, I think that because the fan is able to keep the battery cooler, the charging seems to be quicker as well.The only suggestion I would have for this product is the led toggle, and maybe an option to have a longer cable. I like this product enough that I am buying a usc-c cable extender, so that part is solvable.Also as a note, which is hugely important, is the power brick. In order for this product to work properly, you need a clean 20w or greater power brick. At first, I plugged into what I thought was an okay brick, and the fan was flashing red and wouldn’t charge.I thought I had gotten a defective unit, until I tried a new power brick, and it worked perfectly. So if you’re having trouble, check that first.I know that this is primarily aimed at gamers, but living in the south, I sometimes find that my phone overheats in the car, and suddenly I've lost my navigation system. So I got this in the hopes of being able to address that on those very hot days.It's Fall moving into Winter now, so I expect that I'll need to follow up on this review when August rolls around again, but so far, this seems like a good choice. The charger sticks easily via MagSafe, though it does not appear to do actual full-speed MagSafe charging (I don't get the MagSafe charging circle when plugged up). I like that it has a switch on the back that allows you to choose between cooling only, charging only, or both, and that it automatically stops running when detached from the phone, and starts again when reattached, since wireless charging is sometimes a contributor to the excess heat in the first place.Never knew this kind of thing existed But I’m glad I found itI’ve had my phone overheat a few times and since I got this it never got that hotThe only thing I wished it would do is charge while cooling.
