This works only if it is plugged into the charger. You couldn't unplug it and walk away from the very short charger cord. I wen't to reorder because I assume it is just a malfunction of the one I got, but it had DOUBLED in price since I got mine a little over a week ago. I purchased mine for $12 and now it looks like they are $26.
