Amazon.com The HomeSettings lighting control starter kit manages the illumination system for your entire home. Choose Intermatic HomeSettings Products for Affordable Home Control Reliable safety, security and convenience are no longer luxuries reserved for millionaires and tech-heads. Intermatic is a leader in developing a reliable home control system with a reasonable price point, exceptional effectiveness and real ease-of-use that integrates seamlessly into any household. About this Lighting Control Starter Kit With the HomeSettings lighting control starter kit, you can experience all the benefits of home automation for a fraction of the cost. This kit gets you started on Z-Wave lighting control, so you can manage multiple lights and appliances in and around your home. By using Radio Frequency (RF) technology, Z-Wave components require no wiring, and since each module includes a repeater function, adding more modules to your Z-Wave network actually improves the system's reliability. The Z-Wave Starter Kit includes a master controller and two lamp modules, everything you'll need to start your radio-frequency network. In case of emergency, the master remote's ALL ON/ALL OFF buttons can warn would-be intruders away, and the integrated timing functions offer a variety of options. Set the Astronomic feature and you'll never have to reset the timer for day-to-day changes in sunrise and sunset times, or take advantage of multiple time options. These options include programming possibilities that will set your lights all week, 5 days, weekends, or individual days. Or, before you leave on vacation, activate the random timing option to give your home a lived-in look. There's even an automatic Daylight Savings Time function. The master remote is easy to set up, with an attractive design which blends into any decor; you can set it on a table or mount it on a wall, whichever is most convenient. It controls up to 12 channels at once, and each channel controls up to 16 devices. HomeSettings uses advanced Z-Wave technology -- a wireless mesh network that delivers reliable control of countless applications throughout your home. This outstanding system was voted Best Emerging Tech by the editors at CNET magazine in 2006; and it's exactly the sort of home protection measure that's recommended by the Burglary Prevention Council. I have this kit about 2 months and it works as advertised and flawlessly. On the contrary side, the instructions could be better, like the others reviews says. I didn't saw the Intermatic videos or any information from his web site, just the manual included with every item.Recently I star using it with Vera lite (from micasaverde) and finally works after almost giving up. The MIOS (automation software) controls the lamps modules perfectly. I even do it from my iPhone as should be. How I do it? Well I try 2 methods. The first one, following the manuals, is pairing the lamp modules with the Vera lite hub. It didn't work. The second method apparently worked. I transfer the Z-wave network config from the master control to the Vera lite hub. Be patient, it didn't work at first try:1. push the add module button of the Vera lite hub.2. transfer network config from the master control.Note: After several tries transferring the z-wave network config from the master control I try receive (and here comes the wear part, I know I shouldn't try recieve only transfer from the master control, but I can't tell with one works)3. theres no status message or something to tell if it work.4. suddenly, the lamp modules appear on the UI5 web software.5. after the modules has been discovered, UI5 shows a Com error in the display area but it disappear later.6. I be able to control the lamp modules from the UI5 software and most important from my iPhone, even on 3G.You may need to restart the Vera kite hub and re do this steps.Your mileage may vary, but thats how I get it done.Note: I tried the 'Copy from master control' option from the UI5 software but apparently didn't work.In conclusion, this kit is ideal for starters. It gives you a chance to have an feel of house automation without the cost and the fuzz of the geek part while give you an soft intro to the matter. But... and thats why I don't give it 5 starts, the lack of information on how connect to a house automation software. I recommend this kit but I wish you luck on make it work with your house autom.
